Thank author of this post/comment"A grand illusion"

Biometric locks are different than other locks. That doesn't mean they are unbreakable or any more secure.

The truth is they just offer a grand illusion. Those who look at that illusion will either hand great power because they can sneak into the impossible places... or because they take additional steps to secure and authenticate their important stuff.

Somewhere deep inside the computer the results of a biometric finger print reader will say, "YES" ok to copy the data or "NO" not ok. Give that yes/no signal another way and the whole process leading to it is complete irrelevant!

That is very informative Jerry. I used to use the ordinary form of locks, but I am about to purchase Biometric locks this time because I learned that it is more secure. It will be my first time to use one and I want to know the advantage and disadvantage of using biometric locks. I think it is easier simply just to use fingerprint to detect security of a thing.

You know, these computer and software companies should hire those hackers instead of fighting them. These hackers are really smart. Imagine, they can hack government sites and systems around the world. You've got to be damn smart and you've got to be a computer genius to be able to do that.

I agree that biometric locks do not guarantee absolute security. It just gives hackers a new challenge that they would soon overcome.

They say that the finger print is unique to one person, so if that is true, using biometrics to secure locks would seem to be quite secure. However, as Frances said, many hackers are too smart for their own good. They would just think of a way to hack to this new type of password security.

I remember the movie Charlies' Angels, the modern one, where they had to copy the biometrics of one person in order to break into a company system. With possibilities like that, would there be such a thing as a fully secure system?
